Whatever about the Hycomat* option, I think the typeface is cool.

The five colours were the only ones available.

*It was a Kupplungsautomat, or an automatic clutch for the disabled.

Wasn’t it a better implementation than the old Beetle AutoStick? The Trabant guys had some sharp cookies in the engineering department.

I thought it was a different system. VW used a torque converter, automatic clutch and manual box (as did Fiat on the Idromatic) and so far as I know the Hycomat was something like the Saxomat - in fact it was the Saxomat now that I google it. Centrifugal clutch for starting, electrically operated one for gearchanging.
